    If you had your choice, would you rather be fit outside, or inside? To make a long story short, my golf bag was stolen this weekend, and I'm going to replace it in the near future. Before I do that, I'd like to do a full bag fitting, instead of what I did last time.

    About a year ago, I replaced almost everything in the bag, but only the driver was done at by Titleist (at a Titleist Thursdays event). The 718 AP1s and were done by me hitting a demo set, and deciding that I liked the way they felt. The SM7 wedges were more of a "I've got a PW and 48* wedge, so let's go 54* and 58* to have good spacing."

    So back to the original question- outside or inside? I have options for both. Club Champion recently opened here in OKC, and I've read good reviews, but I've always been hesitant to being fit indoors. On the other hand, there is a place here that has 3 certified Titleist fitters, and a full outdoor range. In my head, I like that option better.

    To me I hate hitting off mats, so outside for me if possible.

    Unless I plan on playing most of my rounds at Top Golf, I'd go with the outdoor fitting. I often joke with my Titleist Premier fitter that if I could carry a 4x4 mat, I never hit a bad shot again, or at least make fat shots far more forgiving.

    Outdoors.I realize technology allows you to look at all kinds of numbers i.e. spin, trajectory, ball speed etc., and that can be done indoors, but actually watching your ball flight will not only validate those numbers but will give you an actual visual of your ball flight.

    I like outside, on real grass, and with good golf balls. I think the hit will be more "normal" as you can get the fat, bounce shot on a mat that gives false readings. I also like watching the trajectory as opposed to just reading it off TrackMan. Also bounce on the wedges as important as loft so you really need to hit chips, pitches, and bunker shots to know which bounce fits your shot shape. That said, any fitting is much better than just buying off the shelf and hoping you got it right. Good luck replacing the set and sorry for your loss.

    Damn, that sucks. Sorry to hear. I prefer outside to get a better feel of how I'm hitting the balls with turf interaction.

    Sorry to hear about your about your stuff being nicked.
    I’ve been fitted at Titleist 6 times inside and once outside.
    I can’t stop recommending everyone gets property fitted enough.
    Every day is a school day as I see it.
    Every swing is different, all experiences being fitted worked and helped me improve.

    I can't hit the ball as well indoors for some reason. I am a different golfer. I guess I tense up. With a driver, I need to "see" the fairway, my target, the trouble. I need to feel the shot. I just can't do that inside. In fact, even on the range, which of course is wide open, I don't tend to hit my best drives, exactly where I aim them. Yet, put me on a course with all the variables of wind, hole design, real visualization, and everything else required to place a good shot where I want, and I usually do. I am a better driver (all clubs actually) of the ball on the course than I am on the range, and far better than off a mat inside a building. I'm sure it has something to do with my focus while actually on the course. I just dipped below a 5 handicap index (4.8), so I know it is not in my imagination. So outside, definitely for me.

    Thanks for the feedback. I prefer the outdoor option also, and will look to get something set up in the near future. What I'd REALLY like is to book a trip to TPI, but that's really not an option. A full bag replacement will probably be $3K+, so I'll leave the TPI idea as a "dream" for some other day.

    100% outside. Although ball flight, spin, distances, and trajectory can be measured in a lab, what really matters is playability and FEEL. You can only get that outside, in the environment you will be actually using the clubs.

    Each situation probably as advantages and disadvantages. A place like club champion is gonna have everything you need club wise and tech wise right there in your hitting bay and hitting inside off matts isn't exactly the same as being outside, but I believe its still a valuable situation. There are no elements like poor turf, divots, un even grounds, etc. Which is probably ideal for being fit. Everything is there and everything is the same.

    With that said, being outside is going to be more realistic to actually playing the game. Elements and turf conditions, etc. It comes down to what is going to be the best experience and put you in the best golf clubs for you. If it can be properly done outside, thats where I would do it!

    Ideally you just want to hit off grass. Haven't found a place that lets you do that inside. I have had an outdoor fitting at range with mats and it sucked. Indoors was even worse (with club champion). It doesn't feel like you're golfing.

    Also, be very careful about a full bag fitting in one session, you hit A LOT of balls. I was exhausted by the time I got to hit some hybrids and woods that I could barely swing a club. The last hour or so was a waste of time.

    I agree, Nate. The plan is to stretch a fitting over a couple of sessions. Maybe irons/ wedges in one, and hybrid/ wood(s)/ Driver in another.

    Have an appointment with the Titleist product specialist in this area on August 22nd. Iron fitting 1200-1245 and wedge fitting 1245-130. Going to check out T200 and T300.....looking at KBS and Project X shafts which I hit at the PGA show in Orlando in January.....maybe an up charge but that is OK, if I can get the right combination..... the wedge will match the one I picked up at the wedge fitting in Pinehurst this spring. Still want to hit them to get the right loft.

    Club Champions was what I would have said, but it looks like you've made up your mind on outdoors which is also good.
    Just want to wish you luck on the journey in acquiring a new set.

    Schedule for a Titleist Thursday in the OKC area. Mickey is an excellent fitter and can get you squared away. I know we are starting ours this week in OKC and Tulsa.

    Thanks, Tim. I've been checking periodically to see when Titleist Thursdays were going to happen, but I didn't see anything until now. I see that Mickey will be at Kickingbird later this month. I'll schedule something with him!

    The Club Champion in OKC is awesome, I'm pro grass as well but I absolutely loved my experience at Club Champion. If you end up doing your fitting outdoors, use Club Champion for your putter fitting, its a game changer.
