I bought a TSi3 driver with a Fujikura Vista Pro 45 R in it directly from Club Champion, who got it from Titleist. Had it for a few weeks, and then it snapped while swinging it about 2-3 inches from the ferrel. Anyone else having this problem?

Keep bringing it back to Club Champion until they get it right.
  3. There must be a issue with manufacturing cause that shouldn't happen. Just keep returning it if it happens or go get a better shaft

Get your receipt and take it back to Club Champion. If they assembled it and put the combo together for you they should be able to take care of the problem. Otherwise if Titleist built it they will contact them for you. Under normal use it should not be an issue. Am a big fan and supporter of Fujukura shafts. Have/had them on my drivers, fairways and hybrids for years. Never had an issue.

I had my driver shaft (Badazz) on my SIM2 driver built by CC snap after about 3 rounds right in the grip between my right and left hand...very odd..

Not saying that this is the reason, but that high up the shaft could be due to someone fracturing the shaft in the vice by clamping it too close to the butt end, where it has a much larger diameter. Not sure why anyone would clamp that high up to begin with, but that part of the shaft would be more susceptible to damage from over-tightening. Problem is, when it is fractured, provided it is not crushed, even if you thought you heard a crack when clamping, you can't see any evidence of damage in many cases. So you think you are safe and dodged a bullet. Once the grip covers the fracture, no one would ever know there's any damage until...it breaks in someone's hands.

The first time you ruin a shaft like that you learn to be more careful about clamping pressure and will never do it again. I learned that lesson the hard way, very early on in my club-working hobby. I know many others, more experienced than me, who have too.

FWIW, this is one reason I get nervous buying pre-owned shafts off Ebay or somewhere I don't know their history. Fractured shafts can look perfectly normal to the naked eye, even a trained naked eye. Once they break completely, who's to say what caused it for sure? You musta swung too hard. Yeah, right.

Doug, what a lucid, well thought out, forensic analysis of this situation. Thank you.

I can't say I have had a shaft break during normal play. The only one that broke near the hosel was caused by a careless cart guy moving a bunch of bags. Sad thing is the club did not offer to replace the shaft.
  9. Quite interesting as a few of my friends have had the shaft in there U500 2 irons snap

  11. Very much with Doug on this one, it’s ever a production influence issue, or just purely bad luck and a defective shaft, but yeah should be all good under warranty!

I can honestly say that years ago when I was younger and started playing golf, mine snapped like that at the hozel when I hit a bad drive and slapped the driver head against the ground in anger and it broke like a piece of bamboo snapping. Of course I am a big guy and had one heck of a temper. Just me and one heck of an expensive lesson. Did not learn broke another shaft when I threw down the fairway farther than I hit it. No third times charm, NOT. I do not do that any more. Costs way too much. Always said I was from the show me state.
