Like many of us “vintage” golfers, I too started out with a png back in the 80’s but transitioned into Scotty’s putters in the 90’s. As the solid balls have become firmer, the Scotty’s just feel better to me. Wishing you many future 1-putts with the new putter!

I have a love/hate relationship with my Scotty Newport 2 and am currently gaming a Spider Tour X. It's the only non-Titleist club in my bag but I have a much higher degree of confidence versus my Scotty. I've been wanting to get a putter fitting for a Scotty Mallet type putter for quite some time. I could be persuaded.

I played Scotty blades for years, multiple Newports and Newport 2s. A buddy of mine got a Phantom 5 a couple years ago (which never suited my eye) but I played it one round doing an A/B comparison and the Phantom won hands down. Flash forward 1 week and I owned one and have never looked back.

Where I'm going with this is that I owned various Newports for the 'cool' factor but they were never really the right putter for me but the Phantom is. I hope you find the right one for you.

My Spider GT Splitback is going to be hard to walk away from. The Phantoms look pretty sexy though. I've never been fitted for a putter but there are so many phenomenal options to pick from, I think narrowing it down to a winner is going to be a long and drawn out process for me.

Lots of options, but some just feel like home. Love my 11.5!

My putter fitting was the best thing for my bag. Really learned alot about my swing and what I was doing wrong. Honestly, being fit for my Scotty dropped and easy 4 strokes per round.

Agree with Dale and vintage here also. Still have that Png copper Pal 2 but do not use it anymore, along with my two Bullseyes. Keepsakes. Also have a Png PLD Anser Milled, but for some reason my Scotty Cameron Super Select Squareback 2 35" with a GolfPride Golf Pride Reverse Taper Putter Grips Flat / Pistol / Round works best for me. It was introduced to me by one of the Team Titleist staffers at the TTI event a Scottsdale (I was playing the PLD). Also have a Scotty Special Select Newport 2, but that Squareback seems to line well for me and love the milled facing. Have had a number of different Scotty putters but sold them to others looking for a used SC putter. All were Newport 2s, along the Anser line.

Have tried a lot of cally putters but they did not last very long. Just did not have the feel and line up to my liking. Tried one of my friends Spiders. Like I said I tried. Tested the EvnRoll and was a very heavy putter for me.

One piece of advice that an old friend gave me many years ago. He was somewhat crazy but could putt the eyes out of a cup. He always said that:, "Chuck, if you roll the ball into the cup it will most likely go in 100% of the time. He could make me laugh. Whitey was a retired traveling salesman who played up and down the east coast. A gambler against the likes of Snead and Hogan. Had one of the best putting strokes of anyone had ever met. Warped sense of humor and cantankerous old SOB. But loved playing with him, learned a lot and loved his stories. How he beat Snead out of a few bucks. I do miss him. Sure he is giving someone what for whether it be above or below. Just kidding my friend, RIP, Whitey Whitesides.

You are making a great decision to go get fit with a Scotty putter. I am like all the other Vintage people that started with png and went to a and Scotty and never looked back. Go with what the fitter says and you will be happy..

I have played a 2.5+ for several years. Late last year, I lost my aiming line and couldn't seem to get my putts to start where I wanted. I made a switch to a phantom 7.5 and I'm never looking back.

I've been using a Phantom X 5.5 for a while, and was just gifted another Scotty (B3 Santa Fe). The feel is just on a different level with these putters.

I've been playing Newport Select for years but going for a putter fitting to try the Phantom 5 after I demo'd it this weekend. Really liked the feel and it was so easy to line up. Very similar to blade on the eye but feels more forgiving.

I love my 5.5 just wish we could get them in black

I got my Scotty (Special Select Del Mar) back in 2021 and have loved it every day since. Love the feel of the ball coming off the face. My only back and forth has been grip size. I started with the regular size matador grip and then moved to jumbo, I'm getting ready to go back to standard matador grip, the jumbo just makes me a little jittery.

Thanks for all the comments and I am the proud owner of a Studio Select Newport 2+. First 3 rounds, 30 putts or less and so much confidence from 5-6 ft. A big reason my index is the lowest it has been in several years.

Nothing wrong with vintage, until the golo 6.2 was released I was gaming a La Costa.
