I recently bought a set of AP2 irons. I am hitting the ball significantly higher with this set  vs. my other set of irons. I have also lost distance, roughly 10 yds / club. I love the way they feel and can work shots both ways. Just curious if this is typical of this set. Should I have the clubs bent to make them stronger? S300 stiff shafts. 4.7 index.

what are your other set of clubs? shafts? What shaft is in the AP2? I'm sure that the difference lies somewhere therin.

I also have the AP2 irons and the Dynamic Gold S300 shafts. Mine have bee lengthened 1  inch and up 4 degrees on the lie. Clubs were also strenghtened beforehand because of my age. It should  be noted that I was fit for the clubs and my age is 70. That said, I am hitting those clubs longer and straighter than any prviously owned irons. I would advise waiting a while before having any further adjustments made and see if you can get advice from Titleist about strenghtening them bbefore you make that happen. All I know is that these clubs are the finest set of irons I personally have ever owned.

I found the same thing during my fitting. Since I already hit a pretty high ball, I ended up getting the MB because the ball flight worked better. Plus, they just felt better.

The AP2 definitely flies higher and we tend to fit players in sets 1 or 2 degrees strong, 4-PW and a W or Vokey gapper. I would experiment with stronger lofts and find a launch monitor and compare numbers.

Ryan I don't quite get this

The irons start 1* stronger than normal, but it seems(from discussions here) that everyone needs the irons 1-2* stronger, that's getting close to the next longer iron just to make the performance of that iron good enough to play.

I would think that the majority of people should be able to use the iron in its standard loft.

Are the Ap1's, cb's, and mb's having to fitted to people 1-2* stronger?

I was already a high ball hitter before I got my AP2's. Custom fitted them with the KBS Tour shafts.

I have had no problems with hitting it any higher or losing distance.  Maybe mine were the exception to the rule.

I took the clubs to the golf shop and had them fitted. Ended up having them bent a bit stronger, especially the pw. This helped pick up the missing yardage. Clubs feel great and I can't wait to play Saturday! Too early to press?

Very nice.  I like to think there are no rules!

RC, would going to CB iron also be an option for players that find the AP2 launch to high? For me so far the KBS shaft feels great but the combo of KBS + AP2 makes me nervous. Yes I need data to make educated decision but in theory is this viable?

Very viable, the CB launches a smidge lower.  We can pretty much make any iron dance!

What were your old clubs/shafts for comparison? I have the 710 ap2's with s300 and love them. I was playing the 755's with s300 and found them very comparable. I like the advice above to wait a bit and see how it works out. They are great irons, good luck.

Precisely why we shift to a 4 iron being the longest playable iron. This type of fitting is very AP2 specific. People really like the look and feel, but the iron launches and spins as designed so we contain the spin into preferred rates and bam! The number on the clubs is just a number. Lock in their gaps on the monitor and they are off and playing.
