Thinking about getting custom fit for new irons and leaving my TM Burner 09s. There is a small, local golf shop in my town that does custom fittings. Also, a Golf Galaxy within 90 mins. I've never been custom fit for irons and would like to know how long I would have to wait to get my new set. I'm assuming they don't make all the adjustments at the store so it would coming directly from the manufacturer. Would wait time be the same if I go through my local shop or a big time store like Golf Galaxy? Don't want to wait long to get new sticks!

I'd go to the smaller shop for three reasons:

    1.  That person or shop will take better care of you and do a better job fitting.  They will take the time to do it right.  I like GG, but it is still part of Dick's.

    2.  An order from GG, more than likely has to get processed and sent in from corporate HQ.  The local shop can deal with directly with the local rep or customer service.  I'm willing to bet the local rep has a better relationship with the smaller shop.

    3.  The order ends up in the same place and the set is assembled.  I think the local guy gets the order in quicker.

    4.  I also think the local shop will call you much faster than GG will.

Just my $0.02 worth and showing the support for the smaller shop.

  3. Hi Brian -

A custom set of Titleist irons will typically take 2-3 days to build, then ship.  In most cases there will be no difference in lead time when ordering from any authorized Titleist dealer.

I got fitted last year at an Edwin Watts down in Jacksonville,FL. They did a great job and took alot of time hitting different iron sets and lengths and lies, and finally ordered AP1's. I recieved them in less than a week, and as soon as the iron came in I had Edwin Watts put new grips on free of charge.(well i had to buy the grips of course). So I dont think that the wait time will be any different. So whatever you are comfortable with really.

I got fitted for a custom mixed set a couple of weeks ago by my local Titleist fitter on a Tuesday and the the clubs came in on the Friday of that week! 4-6 710 CB, 7-9 MB, 46* Vokey 246 CC, DG X100, 1* strong, 1* flat. With those specs I can't believe I got them so fast!
  6. It doesn't matter if you go through Golf Galaxy or a small local rep. All of the orders go in the computer, which Titleist gets, no matter who places that order. As people have said, Titleist does a great job with shipping custom orders. Good thing because, well, I'm not naming other companies, but custom orders could take up to a month or 2.
