Over the last week my low spinner has been rolling out a little more each day, Thursday it was at its worse. Thursday afternoon I went back out and discovered why, the greens are now like concrete and I noticed they were scalped once again like they kept them most of the year.

Friday I decided I would switch to a standard pitch, so I broke out the SW, I'm not good at a standard pitch with a LW. So I played by myself, played the yellow tees, and threw in some additional practice shots. Shot 85, 3 of 8 up and downs. 2 of the 3 were long putts and 1 I actually got the ball close.

So Saturday I went to the practice green, I had to figure something out. I was trying different setups, different swings........, I setup with the ball 3-4 inches back from where I normally do the low spinner with my LW, I had a square face instead of open, I hit the ground just in front of the ball instead of a couple inches in front of the ball, and there was my low spinner with a SW, instantly I said that ball is going across the green, but it didn't, it skipped once and bit then rolled about 5 ft.

I spent another 30min trying to duplicate the shot, and finally did. I spent another hr practicing the shot.

Sunday I played with another single, the course was crowded and it was slow, we waited for the group in front to finish the hole so we could play the hole then wait again on the next tee. With the long waits I couldn't get my full swing going, but it was going good enough. Shot 75, 36-39, 8 of 10 up and downs, the control of my short game was great, better than I have had using a LW for the low spinner.

Monday I played with my regular group from the front tees using my 3h as my longest club, didn't keep score, but the short game was still on, even died one in the hole for birdie. Played again with another guy and decided to cheat a couple of times and pulled out my driver from the front tees.....so a few times I was pitching for eagle and I decided to try my new method with the LW, doesn't work.

    Today the LW comes out.

I carry both an LW and XW; however, my main pitching club is a 54-11 cc. It is a lot less work to use a sand wedge between 25-50 yd. There have been times when I preferred to hit a cut shot over a greenside bunker vs using an L-wedge. My main LW shot is 25 or less from a tight lie with minimal real estate from the edge of the green to the pin. I've holed out or got within a foot or two with the LW. There is really only one shot with an X wedge: full or half swing from a grassy lie between 20-30 yd. Better to play a standard pitch with an LW from a tight lie since the 64-07 would have to be played back in the stance.

Went out this morning, grabbed a sleeve of Wilson C:25, which has been holding up to NXT on short game, and they played short game just fine, but during my practice testing of these balls I noticed they knocked off line easy, that held true today, and you had to putt them harder, which also held true today.

I kept hitting short because the balls don't come off the short/mid irons like the NXT, so I was doing a lot of pitching and getting the ball close then couldn't make the putt.

I figured out the reason after I was home crying about my horrible round.

So I grabbed some NXT's went back out to the course, played the middle tees back side, didn't get short game practice, I kept hitting the greens, putter was working normally, shot a 1 under 35.

An amazing thing, I didn't wear my glasses and I still hit the ball in the right direction.

Tomorrow I will have my NXT's.

Yesterday I was looking for a day of glory on the course, that didn't happen.

Should've worn my glasses, couldn't get a putt or pitch going in the right direction.

On the brite side, I did have 10 GIR, of which 8 should've been birdies, only 1 was.

I'll be wearing my glasses today.

I was playing the front tees, so my 21* h was the longest club used. I was hitting what seemed to be a little bit longer with this club. On 17 my tee shot was very good, I had 200y up hill out of the rough to the center of the green, I figured at best I might bounce it on, POW the ball flew over the green, well that cost me.

18 tee shot, according to gps, 255y, I'd guess about 25y of bounce and roll, but still 230y with a 21*h. Thats about what I expect from my 3w off the tee. Wish I could transfer that swing to my driver.

Today, putting was still bad, pitching wasn't good either, hit 9 greens with 4 real shots at birdie, missed them all.

    Had a triple, couple doubles.

Had a sand save that rattled between the flagstick and the cup, then came out.

Had a few hooks that got me in trouble, then stupid came out of the bag.

Tomorrow I'm heading to some course I never heard of with my cousin and a couple others. Hope I can make a decent showing.
