Had the pleasure of playing Sand Valley yesterday. The course is on an amazing piece of property and was reminiscent of Bandon Dunes. It was interesting to see the progress being made on Mammonth Dunes as we played. The second course will open in 2018. The really cool part was while we were at dinner at a local Supper Club, we ran into David McLay Kidd (the designer of Mammouth Dunes - also designed Bandon Dunes and the Castle Course at St Andrews among other course). We had a nice conversation with him and he was telling us how during the course of the day he had the shapers completely redesign a hole (#4 - 225 yard par 3 from the tips) 4 times as it was just not fitting his eye. This was a really cool experience to hear from a great golf course architect the process and thoughts that go into the design of a hole.

If you are in the area I would definitely recommend adding it to your list of courses to play.

Awesome insight! Being from Wisconsin, I could not be more proud of what our state has to offer to the golf course industry. I have not made my way to Sand Valley yet, but its on the list.

I played it on 4/29. Amazing layout. I can't wait to play it again.

The courses won, but I will be back to get even. I did prevail in my match against the Snack Shack - it wasn't even fair.

    That second photo is terrifying.

Wisconsin isn't all about the Packers anymore.
