Heading to the Pinehurst area next week and one of the courses I will is be playing Dormie Club. While there I was thinking about playing the Cradle. What does everybody think about the Cradle?

I played the Cradle while at Pinehurst for the TT event in April. Neat little layout, fun to play and music on the course all added up to a good time.

I played it a couple of weeks ago. As a single, i got paired up with a couple of guys who were on their third replay of it. It was a lot of fun and more fun with a group. You really only need lob/sand wedge and putter. All the holes are lasered each day, so yardages are accurate. If you can, save time to do a replay, as its better the second time around. They is also a small bar/refreshment area by one of the tee boxes.

From all I've heard it is fantastic. Short course and walking only. When my knee heals from surgery I will be planning a trip there myself. Have fun and enjoy!

Nothing serious goes on there and players of all levels are on the course, where scoring is not a priority for the majority. They have a bar on the course. We had a blast and would do it again, a great way to unwind. They provide carry bags for your clubs. Part of our TT Vokey event in the spring. A bucket list event. =)
  6. I played like a month or so ago, and I loved it! Definitely play it twice because you only pay for 1 round a day. The music definitely is a great aspect to the course. I definitely would put it in my top 10 best courses ever.

The Cradle is a blast, and I'd highly recommend playing it at least twice. You'll only need a wedge or two and a putter. They'll give you a fun Sunday bag to use (I think they have Titleist wedges and putters too) so no need to worry about stashing the rest of your clubs. The course is short, but it's no pushover. Some of the greens are small, and most of them have some slope to them.
The vibe is casual with music playing throughout the course. There's also the Pine Cone, which is a fun little bar with cocktails and beer that you pass twice each loop.
Before, After (or both :-) ) you should checkout the massive putting course Thistle Dhu next to clubhouse. It's free. There's cupholders on each hole, so grab your flat stick and your favorite beverage and take a lap or two.

I totally agree with everything that has been said. The Cradle is not just another Par 3 course. It is THE Par 3 course. I have played it five times since April 2018 and every time is a pleasure. Obviously I visit the Pinehurst area frequently. I live 2.5 hours away, but jump at every opportunity to play any of the Pinehurst area courses. The most recent two being #2 and #4. Do not leave the area without playing The Cradle.

Well Tom, I will agree that it is a great Par 3 and glad to say I have played it but I don’t know that I personally would call it “The” Par 3. There are some other great ones out there. I will be at Bandon in a couple of weeks and playing The Preserve. That one might be my favorite so far. Naturally everyone will have their own personal favorites. Agree, for anyone going to Pinehurst, #2, #4, and Cradle are the must play courses.

As someone who's played both this bast year I have to give the nod to the Preserve. It's on the ocean, 13 holes, and is one of the most enjoyable loops I've ever experienced. The Cradle is still amazing, but I think only the par 3 down Magnolia Ln could top the Preserve.

I lived near that area before I got stationed in VA, played the Cradle many times and we would always play the course several times and get refreshments form the Pinecone when we got a chance. The music make playing there so much fun. For $50 you can play all day and kids 17 and under play free. It is a must play when you visit the resort! It's a great place to get back to why we play which is for the love of the game and the fun we have while doing it.

Ya’ll are correct. It may not be THE best, but it is definitely among the great ones and is unique. My main point is : if you are in the Pinehurst, I recommend that you make every effort to play The Cradle.

I played the Cradle when I was in Pinehurst last year. I would say that if you are there you should play it. Replay is free, there is a relaxed vibe. Check out the Pinecone, which is a wooden teardrop trailer that serves as a bar.

Played it with my group in April 2019.

We played at 4PM after playing Dormie Club earlier.

Could be the best Par3 course you'll ever play with the small pencil bags and the great layout.

Coming off one hole,Summer of 69 was playing on speakers. We had an impromptu jamming session with putters instead of guitars.
  17. You cant beat the cradle after a round or 2 at the resort
