There are approx 4 of us looking for a venue to play Golf during a weekend away within the UK, we are from Hertfordshire and would like to travel between 1hr-3hrs.

We would like to stay overnight with x2 rounds of golf, use of the facilities, something to do in the evening etc.

Any recommendations for suitable locations would be highly appreciated.

You might get better responses (local knowledge) if you post on the UK/Ireland link.

This is the specific area of the forum for Travel related posts..

It looks like this has become another part of the forum that is covertly for US members.

No, you are certainly welcome to post on any category but I'm just suggesting that maybe more UK TT members frequent the UK site and therefore you might get more responses form locals that know your area better. Especially since the post laid dormant with no response from anyone. Sorry bud, just trying to help.
  5. Hi Lefty

Im from way up North in Newcastle, but Celtic Manor is in range, 3 courses I think, maybe 4. You don't have to stay at the Manor, there is a Premier Inn at the entrance to the course, a Manor House half way up ythe bank, another hotel close by.

Carleon is a taxi ride away, with a great restaurant (The Priory) and a few bars, not sure how busy it gets at weekends as Ive only been during the week, it was pretty quiet.

Im sure Celtic Manor have golf deals on all the time, but be warned if you stay at the Hotel itself, its expensive.

Hopee this helps, other than that I haven't got a clue around that area,

    Phil

Celtic Manor is looking like the ideal option for us all at the moment.. thanks for your suggestion.

Will have to see if they have any deals in the near future and book - there plenty of options to stay and eat.

We play around Sandwich in Kent. Great courses, Royal St Georges, Princes, Royal Cinque Ports and Walmer & Kingsdown. Broome Park is also not far away. Loads of hotels locally that do not costs a fortune.

If you hunt about you can get deals on the courses too.

Hope you find your perfect break

Woburn has three fantastic courses and is not far from Hertfordshire. You can stay locally too or in Woburn village which is lovely. Hope you get to play.

You could try East Sussex National; 2 good courses and hotel. I’d echo Woburn as a good option too. Or Woodhall Spa. At the upper end of your travel time but I’ve done it in about 3hrs from Bedfordshire. The Hotchkin is a fantastic course and recently finished its renovation as well.

Stretching the travel times a touch, but Cornwall is untouchable in the UK in my opinion.

Accommodation in Rock or Padstow, golf at St Enodoc (bury me there when I die please), Perranporth and Saunton (many more to choose from!)

Endless pubs and seafood restaurants in the evening. Such good value and quality.
  11. If you can get a reservation at Woburn then I’d highly recommend it.
