Unfortunately for me my course and surrounding courses are fully booked which is great for the game, Clubs and new people who maybe just taking the game up.

So for me the next best thing means a few hours on the range and putting green.

Anyone else putting time into practice over playing ?

  2. Simon,
    I would do but...
The (long) range at the golf club is still closed though available for lessons with the pro.
The (small) range is restricted to 20 mins slots per individual and one at a time.
The putting green is restricted to 3 at a time.
My fav driving range is just in Wales, so it's not open yet.
    No option but to play...
There seems to be no let up in the torrent of members wanting to play at the moment - course full from dawn til dusk

4 days I had to wait to get a game at my course buddy, I feel your pain.
    40plus new members.
BRS was booked solid and 56 people didn’t turn up for there tee off times during the heat wave.

frustrating to hear that you've had a high number of no-shows.
Our course has been very busy but increased capacity via 3 and 4 balls has meant that it's a bit easier to get a decent tee time now. On the practice front, I've been trying to spend some time on my putt out mat at home and been messing around in the garden with full length mirrors (reflections in windows more like!) to try and improve transition. I'm really keen to get back to some range work and some casual 9 holes where I can play a couple of balls, my 2 games so far have been fun, but very rusty!

What range is that Simon? I thought all the ranges were shut so I’ve been playing instead of practicing. I’ve found getting tee times easy so long as you can be flexible.

Hi Matt. It’s Thorney Lakes Golf Club.

The range isn’t the greatest and the balls haven’t been updated in a while by the looks of them but it’s empty.

Every time I’ve been down there to use it I have the range to myself and same goes for the putting green.

Played the course now, and to be fair it’s in good condition.

Bit rough around the greens where it needs watering I.e a little patchy but it was nice to get out.

It’s only a ten min drive from Dogsthorpe so happy to use it for the time being.

Been playing over practicing and like other clubs/courses ours is having quite a few no shows. Still chipping in the garden as I'm not one for the range, although ours is open, and my putting has been good since the return probably as the greens have been running true.
  9. opposite here mate, been out a few times but the driving range and practice ground still closed. desperately need to sort my driver out at the range. fear with my club allowing guests from next week its gona get busy though.

Just under 2 hours tonight for me and my mate to play 18 holes and I’d say we could have been quicker as we were held up a little by the two ball in front for 13 holes ️‍♂️

I have managed to play at least a couple of times each week, but last week I went to the driving range and it was packed, so went to the club practice ground instead for 30 mins of short game practice.

The course has been busy but as El Bandito mentioned the rounds have been really quick with 2 balls. Had my first 3 ball this week but we were round it just over 3 hours.

Im sure your Game will come back fast Simon, with a little practice lol
