  1. I had been a fan of the Prov1 for a number of years but this season tried the AVX. Have to say for me it performs better. Slightly lower ball flight, but similar control,on short game.

Anyone else experiencing similar or is the new ball placebo effect

  2. I normally play Pro V1 but I found an AVX recently and played 9 holes with it and played some of the best golf I have ever played. Like you say, flight was a bit lower, which for me is great as I hit moon balls, I seemed to get more distance but cannot be sure, and round the greens it was great too.

I went home and ordered 4 dozen straight away.

I switched from the original AVX to 2019 Pro V1 purely as I was given the Pro V1's as part of the TT ball fitting. I haven't tried the new AVX yet as I'm very happy with the Pro V, again I'm a high spinner. Would be interest to see if the found AVX was a new or older model.
  4. This may be a bit heretical but I've never truly got on with Pro V1's... It could be just me but I think they go "grubby" quite quickly. I like the control they give but my OCD wins when it comes to the whiteness.
I generally rub along with Tour Soft for social golf but I am partial to AVX if I'm getting what I laughingly consider to be "Serious" stuff. As you say, they are very responsive around the greens without any loss of yardage. If I'm honest, I couldn't swear that AVX travels any lower, but I do like the arc they take up... I even like the yellow ones!!

I’ve not tried the 2020 new ones yet.
I did use a old yellow AVX last year in the wind and rain and it was fantastic.
I ended up winning the handicap section at the open I played in ️‍♂️

I found avx to be good last winter and similar to performance to usual gamer prov1’s, possibly better at getting through wind. However in trying avx again recently, really struggled with green side chipping as just ran out too much. Stocked up on prov1’s again as not for me.
