  1. Hi Just order custom fir T300 irons last week. I’ve ordered standard grips, but today I tried the Tour Velet 360 midsize and quite liked it. My question is how many additional layers of tape is the same as a midsize?. Should I go midsize? Thanks.

It's a problem I have with custom fitting is that midsize grips aren't available although this hasn't been too much of a problem with my fittings so far despite slight changes to the swing weight. I've even used my current shafts with Midsize +4 grips on the fittings just so I'm happy with the feel.

It would take 4 layers of tape so fitting the midsize tour velvets would be a better option in my opinion.

I'm currently playing all my irons wedges and driver with Tour velvet midsize +4 and Multi compound +4 on fairways until these need replacing.

A friend of mine went midsize grips in his new irons, but after 3 weeks got them all taken off and went back standard grips with 2 layers of tape.

I think it’s 4 layers of build up tape with the double sided grip tape on top of that. Assuming the grip is 0.60. If you have a couple of clubs you practice with, you could stick midsize grips on them and see how you get on before deciding to do the whole set?
