Background: Since returning from lockdown I have been practising quite a bit as I have been making some swing changes I have wanted to do for a while. I have started hitting the ball consistently solid now the changes a beginning to feel normal however the driver is not going as planned as is now its in my head. The swing changes have lowered my dynamic loft and changed strike point and now it feels like i have to manipulate my swing to get the best out of the club. (8 degree TSi3 driver)

Question: How has anyone else handled this - do I admit defeat that its no longer the right spec, do i keep going and make changes to make it work? It was the right spec when fit for the club and I know I am moving in the right direction with the swing changes.

  2. Have you played with the head settings to adjust the loft and bias?

I have played with the loft sleeve - lofted it up a bit (although not a fan of it sitting slightly closed) but have put a softer shaft in which seems to be helping alot.

Thanks for the post as one of the changes I'm working on is lowering my dynamic loft with my irons as currently OK'ish with the driver (917 9.5 set at d2 with 8g draw).

When I take my practice swing with the iron I feel the wrist angles but with the driver I just focus on my take-away being wide. That way I don't tend to de-loft the driver, although I still get the odd low drive which isn't too much of an issue with the fairways running quickly. As you say the driver set up is a confidence thing.

There are many ways to change the strike point if it's a consistent miss either with your set-up or using the settings and there are plenty of YouTube video that can help with moving the strike back to centre.

Pity you're having this issue with a new driver in the bag !

Hey, I have played with different address etc - as i can get the launch to 14/15 degrees if needed with a centre strike. The issue for me is that I am having to swing in a way which I dont want to get the optimal numbers - I dont feel I have that 'go-to' shot on the course, its either max or nothing.

I have gone back to another driver that is a lot more comfortable - going to do a few range sessions and a simulator session this week by the TSi3 might be getting sold.

I’ve found a session with my instructor with the TrackMan irons most things out... after watching too many YouTube tutorials during lockdown!
