I am loving my SM5 58º K grind. Sets up great and I have a ton of confidence with it on any shot I need to play.

I could probably use another fitting (I was fit for my current set in 2009).  I am located in northern New Jersey.  Obviously I would prefer not to spend $100 for a one club fitting (I'd almost be better off buying two wedges and seeing which works best on the course).

I am currently comfortable with my length (+1/2), lie angle (1* upright on wedges, 2* upright on irons) and shaft flex.

I recently tried getting fitted at a PGA superstore.  Issue is that it is difficult to get fit inside with wedges.  I was using my current 58.08 (not quite sure of the grind equivalent) and the lie board showed the impact mark in the center but towards the trailing edge (which makes me think I am more of a sweeper).

If you really want that leading edge down low, I'd recommend the 60L bent to 59. Similar shape to your old wedge with fresh grooves.  That particular grind is used by many low bounce loving tour players like Brooks Koepka.

Thanks Ryan.  Do you happen to know if the 58.08 in the SM2 that I have is an L grind or an M Grind?

Looking at the pictures on the Vokey website, it is difficult to tell the distinction between these two grinds.  They seem very similar but with a different bounce?

All this talk makes me want to go back to my old trusty oil can 260.04 with a wide crescent sole (must be 14 years old).  I used it when I first started playing and I felt it was always a great combo from either the sand or the tight lies.

I'd say that particular model is closer to the L grind concept!

I was also torn between which grind to get on my lob wedge as I ordered all new wedges a month or so ago....my Titliest dealer finally made me try the 58* K grind (I was very hesitant, and I was really leaning toward the M grind), once I hit the K grind I fell in love. So easy to hit, club head lays open easily, hits off of soft turf as well as hard pan very easily. Even if you don't think that aggressive grind is right for you I would give it a try! 

it is my understanding that the grinds are nothing like the older non-conforming red saw Vokeys.

It all depends how you play (what type of shots). I play the 60M, 56M, and 52 08* F. I love them all. I have the M grind because I open up the face VERY often (on my 60M) and it is more conducive to that type of shot. I hit off tight lies all the time and it is fantastic. 

I don't remember how the others are different, but that's my sell on the Ms. I play my 52 like a regular iron. 

I have 2 58* 1 is an 04 L grind and the other is a 12.  use them depending on time of year on my home course. The 04L is in the bag with tight dry times and the 12 gets played on wet and soft conditions. Works for me.

K or S ginds, they are the most forgiving on full shots and in wet conditions.  For chipping, pitching and flop shots they are very good. I am a sweeper of the ball, and my K grinds work fine even on tight lies.  Unless you need to pull off a flop shot over your coaches head (Mickelson), the M grind or L grind are sometimes tough to hit on your bad days.  Bounce and sole width is your friend when used properly.

I have the 60-04 L grind and love it. I can hit it out of soft sand also.
