Does anyone have any opinions regarding the new SM7 wedges being cast steel?

I play with multi-material forged irons but have put Vokey wedges in my bag for the better part of the past 15 years.

I don't have any concerns about the quality of the Vokey wedges being cast and IMHO, I think that they are the best wedges available. Given the nature of wedges, I still have really good feedback on my shots. I understand that the cast process results in grooves that maintain their "edge" over a forged design because the steel is not as soft as that used in forgings. I could be wrong with that understanding and if a Vokey rep has more information to share on it, that would be great.

I'm a pretty good player, with a very strong iron game, and I don't see the issue either way. Some guys are all about forged, and half of them should be playing game improvement clubs. I don't think forged/cast is an issue at all with wedges.

I don’t know when the last retail forged vokey was produced going back to the 200 series all vokey wedges have been cast. I have had no problem with any vokey wedge I have had being cast.

I switched from Vokeys years ago and tried some other wedges, some forged. I gave up on them and went back to the Vokey wedges.

If you want your wedges to last and the grooves to be as effective as possible for the longest amount of time, IMO, cast is the way to go. Though forged wedges can feel wonderful in the short term, expecting a softer metal to last as long as one that might typically be used in a cast club, is unreasonable. With Vokeys, they have been proven to be the best, year after year. Why try to fix something that ain't broke? Again, JMHO.

Vokey wedges are better than any other IMO. Being cast or forged does not seem to be a factor.Do not let the fact they are cast bother you.

In a fitting I asked Da Voke.. He said the US market isn't willing to pay for a forged wedge... They are good as is!
