I'm thinking about getting fitted next year for a new set of clubs once I get settled on the west coast. I have never been fitted for clubs before, but after reading some of these threads, I can see the benefit of having it done. The following are my questions:

    1. Is it worthwhile to have this done at TPI Oceanside, as compared to a golf store or pro shop? I'm only about 30 miles from Oceanside.

    2. Is there a fee for this service? (Other than the cost of the fitted clubs)

    3. I'm not a great player. Will this hinder my fitting in any significant way?

I'm replacing a set of Titleist DTRs my dad gifted me a few years after I finished grad school. I guess I'm about due. I'll be saving my pennies so I can get this done next summer. Any input would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

TPI (& Manchester) is a one of a kind fitting service. There is a fee associated (up to $500 for a full bag), but the fitters are dedicated to getting the best fit for you and your swing. The time for irons or woods is 1.5 hours and with the woods, I've never finished early. The fee is separate from the best deal you can get from a local pro/retailer for the clubs. Regardless of handicap, they treat every serious player with the same respect. It's like going to a spa to be pampered.
That said, Titleist Thursdays with Titleist trained fitters is a great service only made better by being free. I would suggest doing some business with the sponsoring club after the fitting as a courtesy for offering their range, not required. My woods were fit at TPI, irons/hybrids at a TT, and putter fitting at a Cameron Showcase Partner. The rest is up to me.

    Hey David,
The TPI Oceanside fitting is a must for anyone who is serious about golf.
    I've had 3 fittings there.
The cost two years ago was $600 for full bag fitting.
I also treated myself to a full fitness evaluation for $600 at TP.
Then a putter fitting in Encinitas at Scotty's gallery for $250.
This is the only way to go.
You will remember this experience for the rest of your life.
Good luck and please post back and let us know how it went!

Thanks for the feedback guys. So as I understand it, this is a two step transaction: fitting at Oceanside, then I take that information to a pro shop (or other retailer) and place an order for my clubs. That's good to know: I was under the impression that I was fitted and also placed my order at Oceanside. Thanks for straightening that out for me.

TPI Oceanside is awesome. I’ve been twice. I believe the fitting is $600 and the physical evaluation is now $1,200. You get your specs and order wherever you want, not at TPI. They treat you like a pro and it’s an awesome experience. The people are great and the facility is beautiful.

Scotty Cameron Fitting is worth it too. $50 if the fitting fee went towards the cost of the putter I ordered.

I had my first Titleist fitting at TPI at Oceanside CA and it was a great opportunity. I was visiting my son while he was stationed at Camp Pendleton. I am still playing the irons that was specified during my visit. I would not think twice about visiting TPI Oceanside. Outstanding visit. Its a must for any Titleist enthusiast
