  1. So, I've played a few rounds already with the new-to-market AVX ball... and they are performing well! They're long, and very durable. After the round, the ball would still look in pristine condition. Off of the tee, and with hybrids and irons, the ball flight is straight and piercing. Around the green, they performed just like a ProV1 or X. With the putter, they feel good; however, not as soft as I thought they would feel. Overall, I like them and do think they have a home in the current ball lineup, especially w/ all of the yellow ball requesters...

I got a sleeve off Ebay from someone in Arizona and wanted to add to your comment about the condition of the ball after the round. I was also surprised after hitting just several "scoring" wedge shots from 100 yards and in to test it out and to see how it performed, and what the condition of the ball would be in 2 hours later. NO marks on the ball and was in great condition...crazy!!
  3. Yesterday I win the first Golf Channel Am Tour Major at Disney playing the new AVX ball. The ball played with great distance and exceptional feel on approach and on the green.

I was thrilled to have a sleeve of the balls, since they are available in Florida.

  4. Went to my local golf course to play a round and was given an AVX to test and give feedback to the pro. I loved the balls softer feel and the spin was good around greens. I have been playing the chrome soft but I was an instant fan of this ball after only two holes. Looking forward to the full release. Found my new ball.

I played the new AVX two rounds this past weekend and was impressed. I hit some of the longest drives that I have hit in a quite a while. It felt a touch softer than the ProV1x and sounded very similar to the X off the putter. Iron shots were a touch longer (maybe 1/2 club) but my biggest surprise was how well it performed around the green. It held the green very well and it didn't the excess spin that sometimes comes with full swings. Used the same ball for both rounds and it still looks like it go more! Going to try using the AVX again next weekend but this time not at my home course. Hope it performs like it did this weekend!
  6. I tried the AVX, I found them to be a great ball. I compared them to the TM TP5 and Bridgestone Tour BRX. I found they are a better fit for me. I loved the golf balls and after 2 years of using the TM TP5 I will now use the AVX Golf Balls. They did exactly what they said they would do great distance and spin control.

I had the yellow AVX ball sent to me in Michigan from my brother in Arizona. I was able to use it in more summer like weather with temps in the 70s. I thought the softness was the biggest differentiation from the ProV1x that I have played for a number of years. I would like to try it some more in different conditions. The length was definitely as long as either ProV1. Will wait to see if they come to Michigan or have to get them shipped to me again.
  8. When are they coming to Georgia? Currently I play with the pro v1x Plus and Dot that I got my hands on and I love that ball.

Interesting...what is the "dot" for?? I've never seen this version before.
  10. I had the chance to use these balls during my round yesterday, I used the yellow version, scored a sleeve from a friend.

I typically use yellow TruSoft balls for the softer feel they have, but really enjoyed playing the AVX model.

The feel off the driver and irons was very responsive. I found that mis-hits did not cause as much deviation as the trusoft balls would have had. Distance off the tee was more consistent as well..

The covering of the ball did show good amount of wear after a few holes, so they need to address that aspect.

I've had a chance to play 2 rounds with the AVX and I'm impressed. Consistent and controllable ball flight. One round was played in a 20mph wind and the ability to drive the ball low, into the wind without losing distance was a great feeling. The feel around and on the greens was something I was worried about after reading the comments of it being a "softer" ball. Much better than I expected. Being a long time ProV1 player I was very pleased with the new AVX...Hopefully they'll make it into the product line soon.
  13. I'm reading about the new AVX ball that is just being tested. I would love to try it out here in Pa. this fall. I have played the Pro V1 for many years. Thanks Dean..

  14. Played the AVX for 10 holes today. Bought a dozen when I was in FL at El Campeon, great course.

Wanted to play on my home course for reference. Still kicking myself for only getting one dozen, they were $51 per dozen there.

They didn't really feel softer to me, but the ball flight seemed more stable in wind. No obvious distance gain.

Overall, nice feel, stable flight into wind, really good greenside spin.

Felt more stable into wind which is the only thing the Tp5x has over the PV. Still like PV better than Tp5x, haven't played Tp5.

Verdict, really think I would change from PV to AVX when available, but they don't feel softer and flight a bit lower IMO.

  15. Played with these balls 3 times now. These are totally legit!!!!! I usually play the V1 and on really windy days, the V1x. Sure hope Titleist keeps making it. I have to say I was really reluctant because of the price but, you shouldn't be these balls are filthy long and spin every bit as well as the other pro V's.

LOVE 'EM!! Being older they are a perfect fit for my game- so long Pro V1! What does AVX stand for?

I played this ball over the weekend (18 holes). To me, it is similar to the Chrome Soft. It is a soft performance ball. I've been playing the V and the Chrome Soft, switching back and forth. It is very comparable to both performance wise. It seems to spin a tad less (but not much) around the greens, as I was playing some firm greens. However, the main difference was that it was softer than the V. For me, the ball flight was close to the V. It was stable in the wind. It felt good off of the putter, soft but not too soft or clicky. I like a softer ball, and this ball felt good off of all the clubs. Distance was very comparable to the balls mentioned above, but I believe the AVX was slightly longer. Overall, I really liked this ball. I would probably play it instead of the V if it was placed in Titleist's regular ball line-up.

I bought 2 dozen in Florida my last day there, I have been playing them on my home course in Maryland since I got back.
I feel like they are longer off my irons by a club versus the ProV1x I have been playing and about the same off the driver. Nice soft feel around the greens and off the putter face. I think Titleist has another winner.

Tried the new AVX ball yesterday. Really felt great off the driver and good stopping power on the greens. I wish they were a tad cheaper but I guess I'm lucky to at least live in one of the three "anointed" states. Looking forward to seeing how they perform when the temps in the Phoenix area head south for the winter.

I have tried the new AVX and I am sold. Has a softer feel the the PROV-X with as good if not better distance. I hope the ball stays around. If you get a chance buy these
  22. I played the optic yellow this past weekend and it is awesome! It explodes off the tee and is equal to or greater than the distance of the V-Vx.... and straighter. It doesn't have the same spin on approach but checks up nicely... more so than the NXTs. I've been trying to find a yellow ball that is a step above the NXT but so far I haven't found one... until now. The cally Chrome Soft isn't it.... The AVX is. I told my wife that we might have to take out a small loan so that I can by a few cases of them... that didn't go over well. Hopefully the price point will drop a bit.
  23. I cannot believe you would leave Texas out of the test market. The home of Nelson and Hogan...come on guys!
