With one kid in college, and another in high school, it's hard to replace my irons every 2 years. But I can swing every 4 to 5 years. With a driver or hybrid every other year. Happy Thanksgiving to you Abby!

Still have my AP-2 712 when they first came out. Like some of previous responder i am very happy with my current set up. This time every year, always tempted to consider getting an upgrade....maybe in a few more years....evenso, what i got right now are still quality clubs

I change my irons with each new generation released.

My home course is fairly long, I am a shorter hitter than many, so I tend to rotate my wedges (more so) and fairways (less so) more often than my irons. I once charted my club selection if I were to hit a perfect shot from tee to green on my home course, and I came up with something like 12-15 full iron shots over 18 holes. With that in mind, I don't wear my irons out on the practice tee, either ;-)

716 AP1s are my first Titleist Irons. Hope to keep them in the bag at least four years.
Have not even touched a 718 iron, because I am hitting my best iron shots in at least a decade. Was playing Pngs [G20 (2012) & i3+ (2005?)]. For me, my old clubs had too much offset (especially the G20s) and too much bounce.

The 716 CB, paired with 716 TMB has been the sweetest set of clubs I've ever owned and played- not to mention both of their simple good looks. I plan to game this set for another year at least.

But then I know that I'll find myself being fitted for the 718s along the way sooner or later. Things could change for me then, but I'll cross that bridge when it comes.

I try and make mine last around 4 years but have been tempted in the past and bought sooner. I have had the 714s for about 3 years and a new set of 718s are very tempting.

Titleist 755 Forged to AP2-712 to AP2-716. So, about every four yearstwo Ti.tleis t release cycles. However, this year, after playing the 716s since they were released, I added 3 new AP3-718s in my mid-longer irons, 'cause they were too good to miss out on. I may even add another with the same specs over the winter. They are definitely longer than my AP2s, which has created some minor gap problems, but I'll get it figured out soon. I like the extra distance.
  10. With 2 girls still in college and a newly arrived grandson I would like to replace my current irons, but that will have to wait until the spring. The fact that they have been in the bag as long as they have is a testament to Titleist as they still feel fantastic. I've played golf for over 40 years now and my current irons are the longest lasting set I have ever played.

Every 3 to 4 years for me. I usually skip one cycle of new woods and irons. Currently have 917 woods and 716 CB irons.

Went from 755, AP1 712, AP1 716 ... so the pattern is every four. But, I am going for a 718 fitting to see how the AP3 performs. Curiosity is getting the best of me.

As an aside, I compared the 712 to 716 and was amazed at the difference in design. The 716 flange is significantly wider and the hosel is much shorter.

I am a bit nuts. In the past 7 years I bought 7 sets. I have a full Titleist set at my cottage and one at my house. Currently own the 714 AP1 as a back up set and my primary set is AP2.

These 2 sets I plan on keeping for a very long time. I upgraded all the shafts on my main set and got fitted for them in the process.
  14. I am on a 4 year cycle with woods, irons and wedges. So I'll miss the 718 irons. But I can go to the new SM7 wedges. Can't wait for a spring fitting!

I upgrade when I perceive the new irons are significantly better than my old irons. Cosmetic changes don't cut it. There has to be a performance enhancement to justify the cost. And tweaking the loft so you can say your irons go further is not a performance enhancement. Additional perimeter weighting and repositioning the CG count as performance enhancement. Changes in shafts can be done without buying new irons.

Before this year i had really played for some years and i had the DC981’s but i did get fitted this past summer and we’ll see how things progress but it would maybe be 2-3 years when i woulad look into upgrading to new irons/clubs.
  17. I have 714 Ap2 that are used on the practice range, and 716 Ap2 that are my gamers. I’ll probably wait a couple more years before looking at either Ap2s or Ap3s.

I'm currently playing the 714's CB. Thought about getting the 716's when they came out but opted to stay with the 714's. Really like the 718's and will be testing out the CB & AP3. Also looking forward to the SM7's. My SM5's are wearing out. I have already told my wife I need new clubs as mine are worn out.

Still have my 710 ap2 irons and have no intention of changing them for a good while yet

I go about every 3 years. Iron technology does not change as much as drivers, fairway woods and hybrids.
