  1. I am 27 and proudly a push cart guy. I carry an ok amount but get flare ups in my knees and lower back every so often. years of playing baseball from 5 through college (as a catcher) and I know my knees are going to fall apart sometime in my future so anything I can do to keep stress off of them and my back and ill do it.
  2. I'm a push cart guy. I enjoy walking and carrying a bag destroys my back and shoulder.

The more I think about it, it is the best way. If we have a summers like last year, there is no way I want to carry in that heat!

I will often carry for 4/5 rounds and then switch to the trolley bag and trolley, and then switch back again. The push is easier, but less direct. Carry is great but can get tiresome

I'm riding most of the time nowadays, but if I had to walk I would use the push cart. Some members have some really nice ones and even saw a couple of electric ones that have a transponder that clips on to the back of your belt. When you stop, it stops several feet behind you. Then it has a pause button to stop it from following you onto the putting green. I asked one person who has one and he said that the battery was good for 2 rounds on 1 charge.

I walk and carry as much as possible. I'm on 35 and in decent shape so it doesn't bother me. I've got a good light bag with a sturdy strap, and I don't need to carry a bunch of stuff, so it works well.
Lots of my friends use the push cart (older and younger) and there's no harm in it. As for age, we had a player at our club who carried until he turned 80. The guy is a legend and has been breaking his age since he was 65.
I think anything walking is better than a cart - just my opinion.

Never was a fan of push/pull carts. I'd prefer to carry and walk whenever the course allows.

Playing golf while you walk is the best way to play! I prefer to carry, but any way that gets you out there playing is OK by me!
  9. I use a push cart. It gives me the ability to hold a speaker, extra gear, a drink and umbrella if needed. Also, my shoulders and back not being tired after the round is a plus. It is a personal preference. For me, it's a no brainer to be able to have extra stuff with you and not be tired after the round. The push carts they have nowadays move so effortlessly with tones of accessories you can add and fold up very well for storage.

I'll carry my bag until I find a push cart that meets my expectations.

  11. I use a push cart in the winter and ride in the summer. Carried my bag a few weeks ago - first time in 10 years! Going to carry this weekend - just need one of my buddies to carry all my food & drink in their push cart!
  12. I don't think it's an age thing, but here's what I've found for myself.

I have a buddy, who after separating his shoulder playing hockey, starting pushing a cart. I noticed that by 16, he was still fresh and I was beginning to fade. So to even things up, I started renting a push cart when playing with him, and I noticed that it had a slight change in my game.

Last year I read a study that said the calorie difference between carrying and pushing was neglible, but the big problem with carrying is that a lot of guys will slump over and not have good posture when carrying, and that causes back issues. (I've found that one can slump when pushing too...so maintaining good posture is key for both).

Between those two pieces of "data," I switch to pushing and have not regretted it. While I do appreciate the simplicity and aesthetics of carrying, I'll be rollin' from now on.
  13. i'm 29 and use a push cart. My local course has lots of hills.

I carry and use a push cart.. Push cart comes out on hot days when I want to attach my cooler for extra cold drinks and fruit. Walking gives the legs a better workout!
  15. I am wondering why you are not buying a electric cart for that, and won't have to carry it anymore

I will be using a push cart for the first time at the Ocean Course in a couple of weeks. Playing back to back days and that course is a bit of a beast!

Pretty much always carry unless I’m walking with my wife and kids. The pushcart makes it easier for my wife to move my clubs while I’m helping one of the kids, plus the cup holder is a nice feature.

I have never carried my bag (except to and from my car). Always used a push cart. I have thought about it but I would need to get a lighter (stand) bag. I’m looking at getting a new bag and have been looking at the stand bags. Something new for this season.
Either way still walking the course and loving it just wish I the season was longer here in Canada.
  19. I got a backache for a couple of years now
