I think I had my best year ever last season. All of which I owe to developing a strong practice routine, and getting the proper equipment. Including switching from the ProV1 to the ProV1x. That ball fit my game in ways I could not have imagined. That being said, I do have a couple of goals for this year they are; Get stronger mentally, and get longer and more consistent off the tee. Best of luck to everyone!

    My Golf Goals for 2016:

    • Handicap of 5 or lower (Currently at a 9)
    • Break 80.  (I'm still stuck at 80!!! It's driving me nuts.)
    • Compete and place in my club championship qualifier  (Last year I had to drop out due to my Cat peeing on my couch and our wedding favors a week before our wedding.  Wife was not pleased.)
    • Participate in a Long Drive Competition.
    • Play in Alabama at the Robert Jones Trail.
    • Continue to work my blog/golf journal.  Write Daily!
    • Become back to back "Birdies for Billy Champion", win first place in the "Billy Mac Fund Tournament"
    My Swing Goals for 2016:
    • More FIR/GIR
    • Limit 3 putts
    • FOCUS
    • Swing smooth
    • STRETCH!

I've read through all the post and everyone has great goals. I used to play a lot of competitive golf and had a great short game and great putter. I currently have an average of 1.71 putts per hole. Incredible! How did it get so bad? - Pulling up to the golf course hitting a small bucket of balls and not putting, then to first tee. My Goal, will be to practice putting and lower my putts per hole to around 1.6 per hole.

    Thanks-

    Adam

My goal for 2016 is simple: consistently shoot PAR + my handicap in tournaments. I play a lot of golf in the season and my handicap has made it down to 3. However, the last time I shot +3 in a tournament was over 5 years ago. This year I want to step up my game so much that I can no longer go into a tournament thinking I have to break 80 because every round (even pressure rounds, tournaments, qualifiers) is mid -70s. Lots of people say they are single digit handicaps, but how many of those people can go play in a qualifying tournament (7000 yds, fast greens, tough pins) and still perform to their handicap? Let's get so much better that the pressure doesn't get to us... the key is in how we practice.

    1. Dial in my 180-205 range

    2. Get a Hardcore Refit from TOP to BOTTOM

    3. Clearly play more, but spend more time working on focused Range work

    4. Core and Flexibility daily workout routine (put together and dialed in my pre-game routine in 2015... AMAZING HOW IT GETS YOU SET IN MIND AND BODY TO PLAY!!!)

    5. LOCK DOWN MY PRE-SHOT SET UP

    6. Keep banging home the 6fts

  8. Carl T

Lower my handicap to single digits Use my head more in course management (when in the rough just try to give my self the chance to make no worse than bogey) Keep making my short game a priority when practicing Do not let a bad hole (or two, three, etc.) dictate the tone for the whole round Have fun and let the rough edge drag

Great post for the New Year and fantastic goals for all!

    I have three for myself:

    1 - Become a better ball striker

2 - Increase my flexibility and overall fitness

3 - Begin competing in Amateur tourneys regularly

I took a long time off from playing in my 30's (played maybe once a year).  Since picking up the game again in July 2015 and refocusing my efforts, my handicap has dropped from high twenties to a ten.  This year I'm shooting for scratch or better.

    Happy New Year TT members!

These are my goals for this year. ** Increase exercises in my workout routine to improve the flexibility in my swing ** Spend more time on improving my putting ** Develop a consistent pre-routine on every shot ** Break 90 on a consistent basis.

I'm enjoying reading everyone's posts on their golf resolutions for 2016 (yes, I know the topic is Goals).  Mine are relatively simple:

    --Keep my single digit handicap.

--Improve my up-and-down percentage to at least 50%.

--Achieve an average of <30 putts per round.

--Three-peat as club senior match play champion.

    Abby , super question.

I just wanna relax and have more fun. I think better play will come with this.

Great question Abby!  I have two primary goals for 2016.  First, I need to consistently turn off my cell phone as soon as I reach the course.  I've had too many distractions via texts or email from work.  Second is to eliminate three putts.

    Best of luck to all!

    Regards,

    JB

  14. So What are MY golf goals for the new year?

Here are mine, not necessarily in order :

    - Play more competitive golf: I need to play in more tournament rounds this year.

    - Commitment To Each Shot: This needs to occur on every shot mentally as I work towards a better psychological frameset.

    - Travel and Play: I need to be more fluent in playing a variety of courses under tournament conditions as I prepare for Senior Events so I hope to play a variety of different courses and work to score on each!

    - Have fun with my family playing more golf: One of the great things about golf is that any age can play, I hope to play more with my wonderful wife and all my kids in 2016!

    Wish me luck!

Well Abby here goes my 2016 goals: Develop a pre shot routine that will allow me to take my game from the range to the course. Ranger Rick disappears in 2016! Increase my up and down % whether off the green or in a bunker by spending 60 percent of my range time working on chipping, bunker play, putting. Have fun take more golf trips

I'm already 3 months into my main goal of increasing flexibility and conditioning.  Looking for improvements there to minimize nagging injuries that kept me from playing more frequently.

    Beyond that I need to:

Get to single digit hdcp and stay there.

Improve my GIR %.  (Missing greens puts waaaaay too much pressure on the short game.)

Improve driving accuracy.  (Which messes with my GIR%)

The best to all in 2016!

I no longer have time to dedicate keeping my handicap in the single digits.  I go to enjoy time with family and friends on the course.

Play more golf with my sons....my oldest loves golf....my youngest is getting interested.

    - become conference player of the year in my high school conference (NC 4A North Piedmont Conference)

    - go to the NC 4A high school state championship and shoot +10 or better on my 2 day total

    - have fun and enjoy the time I have playing golf

    • practice more ... even if it's for 30 min a day on the short game
    • play more
    • not take it too seriously and have fun

Great way to focus on goals for this year Abby!

With my full bag of Titleist clubs, my primary goal is to bring my average score down below 80 from the mid 80's where I am now.

Started playing at age 59, and i'm now 68.  Played 80 courses in 10 states from my home state of Texas to Arizona, California, Oregon, Colorado and New Hampshire where my daughter lives as well as several other states.   My secondary goal is to play on even more beautiful courses around the USA, just to enjoy being on incredible manicured grounds with equally incredible views.

I HAVE to become a better driver of the golf ball! If I can do that, all of my goals can be achieved. My main goal is lowering my handicap. Of course, playing more would help, as 14 rounds last year won't do it. LOL, I live in Florida, on a golf course....
  26. Jason K

    Jason K
    Sacramento, CA

    My goals:

    - increase my driving distance to 300 (currently 275)

    - more GIR (currently 55%)

    - have fun. always.

    Happy 2016!
