Great question, Rick. While ball strike and hitting fairways and greens makes for a great day, spending the day with friends is a great part of the game. Getting new golfer and playing partners is also a plus.

Posting a good score is my vote. The better the score the better you played. There is something very satisfying about not having your "A-game" and scoring well.

Each round of golf I try to hit 8 perfect shots. This happens far less than I would like.

Because of how my game has improved over time, I fall into the category of ball striking and keeping shots in regulation. As long as I am hitting the ball better than I was before, the less I am worrying about my swing, stance, etc and therefore, enjoying my round. My shots might not go in the direction I want them too at times, but those are little changes I'll work on at the range. As long as I'm hitting it well, the better I feel!

Striking the ball well/hitting fairways and greens! There are times I may not score as well but as long as I'm pleased with the way I struck the ball that round is the most satisfying to me.

Surprised to see no votes (yet) for up and down/putting (I didn't choose that either). It would be interesting to know what the 7% other categories were.

Holing out from off the green is magic. The rest of the time I just love being on course knowing the next shot will be great.

Great post, Rick! I was just thinking about this exact question the other day! I love striking the ball in the sweet spot. Hitting it well is addictive. Everything else follows after this. Just as important, playing with people who's company you enjoy is one of the best parts of the game. Playing with negative energy people brings me down. I'd prefer not to play with them at all. Golf is the greatest game in the world. I enjoy every aspects of working on it and improving on a daily basis. Scores go up and down. But our attitude when we play is the one thing we can only truly control. Enjoy the journey is my motto. Keep up all your great work, Rick! It is extremely appreciated!

The satisfaction I enjoy most is having the ability to play the best clubs and ball produced, which is the same set up that pros play. Having an opportunity to get out in the fresh air and play against the course is what gets my blood flowing. Golf is such a great game and I have been lucky enough to play quite frequently. I enjoy time on the course with my family, friends, and fellow competitors.
Knowing each round will provide me an opportunity to beat my best score, it is just me against 18 holes.

Great question Rick. Hope to see you soon.

It was very interesting reading all the feedbacks. I chose low scoring. Some days you have to play against the elements, sometimes I do not have my "A" game going, sometimes play is slow. It is fun for me to battle whatever the day brings to try to get the best score I can for that particular day.

Hitting the ball well brings a good score and makes for a more fun day. Usually, I can tell from that first hole how well the day's going to go. Some days a good game naturally unfolds, some days the game is a struggle.

I choose getting up and down and putting well and I saw that this is the least chosen of all of the choices. For me if I can get up and down and putt well every one of the other categories will usually take care of them selves. Getting up and down and putting well is the hardest part of the game for me and I practice this more than any other aspects of golf. Unfortunately the labor of my work does not always come to frutation.

Striking the ball well leads to better scoring for me. But I just enjoy being out on the course.

  15. I think Barry.B hit it on the screws for me. Competitive golf I don't want to waste strokes when everyone is so valuable.
