    Hey everyone -

Earlier this year we asked you to share your goals with us for the summer. I can't believe we're already well into September, but we want to know ... how have you progressed with your golf goals over the last few months?

I look forward to reading about your success!

    Best,

While I haven't come close to achieving my golf goals (play more, practice more and lower my index), I've kept my game in perspective. My time has been limited by conflicting interests, but when I've been fortunate enough to get out on the course, I've enjoyed every minute of it.

Our men's club has one last major on the horizon, but it unfortunately conflicts with Josh's TT New England event. It'll be a tough decision, but I think I'll forgo my club and hook up with the gang in Mass. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and hear how all are doing!
  3. Been pretty "lucky" this year, met my goals... Broke 80 four times (three was my goal), and got my first Eagle (par5), down to single digit. Like to say it was easy, but I have put in the work and it's paid off. Next years goals might change as I am not sure my body can take another year of what I put it through this year, but you never know :)
  4. i did meet my goals in terms of scores but i did gain a whopping 40yds of the tee and average 3 more greens than i did at the beginning of the summer but my short game and putting got worse so my scores stayed the same but in terms of ball striking i improved tremendously. i just need to word on short game and i will be good to go.

I began the year as a 26 HC...yeah, i know bad!! But I was still recovering from double knee replacement and had just left a job that worked me to death and left no time to play or practice.

Enter a new job and two healthy knees, that didn't cause pain playing.

My goal was to get to a legit 16 by the end of our posting season (November 15) I made good progress from May through early July, getting down to 18.8. I have backslid on the practice the past two months due to the near 100 degree heat almost every day, and a busy summer. Currently at 19.3

I don't know if I have enough time to get to the 16, but with some more practice and more play I am going to give it a shot.

I've said many times, one of the biggest reasons for my 7 stroke drop, is putting the 816 Hybrids and SC X7M putter and SM6 wedges in the bag. Seriously.

Now if only the 917 were going to be available before October 21 !!

I actually have not played well this year. I have a new job since July & now work around 65hrs a week. I did purchase new 716 AP1's & new 816 H1 Hybrid, 915F 16.5 & 915 D2 with all those hours I've been working. Lol.

I am hitting more fairways & greens (since purchases) which was part of my goals. But to break 80 more consistent was the major one & that hasn't happened. I have lowered my index down to a 15 from 17 so it's progress. I also have missed my last 4 tournaments due to work obligations but do get to play later this month.

I still plugging along hoping to get that score down & stay down. Next years goal is no different....
  7. My goal this year has been to improve fairways hit and GIR. So far fairways hit has improved. GIR is still a work in progress. Still have 3 more months to go so will keep working on it.

The year started off good, then fell off a little. After tuning up my new scotty putter I've been lights out. It even helped the rest of my game. Yes my goals have been accomplished.

Well my goal for this year was to get back to and stay under 10 handicap , and shoot 10% of my rounds in the 70 's . I usually play about 40 rounds a year.. As of September 1st im at 8.4 ,but NO rounds in the 70s, just can't seem to break thru. My last 6 rounds three 81s ,82, 84,and 88. Not closing strong, each one of the 81s i had two double bogeys on the back. Im playing this weekend both Saturday and Sunday so wish me luck. Then overseeding will keep me on the shelf until the end of the month.. HIT'EM STRAIGHT GENTLEMEN & Ladies.....madgolfer

Not exactly, but threatened it twice.....I set lofty goals every year, which aren't out of the scope of reality, but are difficult. I'm trying to post consecutive rounds in the 60's........I haven't done it in a LONG time.........It'll come!....Probably when I stop thinking about it....lol

Did manage to get my handicap down to a 7 from a 12 and discovered the secret is in "Greens in regulation" and better lag putting. As I started to hit more greens, my scores came down. Translation is more accurate off the tee and more consistent with my irons. Distance was secondary. Also, practiced lag putting from 30-40 feet on regular basis. Its true what they say, drive for show, putt for dough.

I had 2 goals; have more fun and just keep grinding away with my new golf instructor that i started with late last year...

Fun: Probably one of the best summer's I've ever had. Scores were the same but I'm enjoying the game more and not pouting as much. Also I was able to cross off some bucket list courses; Bethpage Black and Chambers Bay. What a real treat to play those courses.. And I'll have one more to check off at the end of September, Pinehurst for the TT Invitational. Really looking forward to meeting everyone that is going. And one other thing I was able to check off the bucket list was getting fitted at Manchester Lane. I cannot tell you how much fun that was and I HIGHLY recommend it. A perfect place to get fitted for the new 917s :)

Game: My game is always a work in progress. I did start with a new instructor late last year. He's been great to work with and I really like the direction I'm going in. It'll be time before I see some results but having a lot of fun learning new things from him. I'll see him one more time before I head to Pinehurst.

Another great year all thanks to the best clubs and balls in my bag, Titleist w/ ProV1.

    Cheers!

    That's it for me.
  14. My goal is to shoot my age(71). Got close(73) and lowered my index from 8.5 to 6.4 so far.

    Dave: awesome golf, man!

With my 14.3 index (up from 13.9), I can only wish to play that well.

Goal-wise, I did break 80 for the first time and, eagled a par 5. That was exciting! I really need to play/practice more.

I haven't set goals per say, but it's been a decent year. Got my handicap back down to 5.5. But controlling the ball this year has been leaps and bounds better. Adding new clubs this year (AP2 716, 915H and FD, and 917 D3 on order) plus with a lot of practice has helped tons.

Hope everyone else is having a good year too.

    Hit'em straight.

Hi Abby L., Was lucky enough to win one of my golf clubs two man tournaments this summer. First time I had won anything in this great game. Next week starts the club championships. Who knows, can't win if your not in it. Great post Abby!
    Play Well,

  18. Well, my goals keep changing and at 74 years young this is reasonable. I did not get worse so this is a big deal. My last round proved to be the best with a solid 39.. Of course this is from the senior tees on a user friendly track-- still...
So I continue to use my NXT tour balls as they seem to be best suited to my game, such as it is.
  19. At the beginning of the summer l had a 15.4 handicap and now I'm a 10.9. I have improved so much.

    G'day Abby!
I'm pleased to say I've exceeded my goals already. I've dropped my index from 2.5 to +0.8 largely due to my new 716CBs, SM6 wedges and SC Newport. Only a few weeks ago I shot a PB 65 (7 under) and with summer looming closer here Down Under I'm looking forward to more low numbers. Can't wait for the 917 to reach our shores next month either!
    Best regards,
    Mark

Guess my main goal was to work on consistency with my irons. It has been a bit slow but it has come around and it finally clicked. Sometimes it is the simplest fixes. Am also learning to accept the loss of distance that comes with aging, so working on consistency and accuracy has become my number one priority. My chipping and short game has really improved. One putting helps scoring a lot. I think that upgrading a 3 fairway in my bag will improved one more element of my long game. Look out 917f. Have all my other Titleist clubs pretty dialed in and my fairway is the inconsistent and oldest. Will take advantage of the TT offer at Pinehurst. See you there Abby.

I did well in the two annual outings I attend. And have gotten about 80% back after shoulder surgery.
Plus will see many of my friends at months end in Pinehurst.

  23. Hey Abby met a few goals this season but some of them have been marred by inconsistences have had a lot of good rounds in match play competitions but have struggled all year with medal/stroke play. Probably down to a lot of swing plane changes in February this year but the game is improving as the changes in my swing have become more familiar already looking forward to next year.
