    Hey everyone -

Welcome to 2016! We're really excited for the year ahead and can't wait for what's to come. As with every new year, it's time to put those resolutions to work.

What are your golf goals for the new year?

Here are mine (no they are not very measurable):

    - Play more golf: Living in New England, I have to take advantage of the warm months.

    - Consistency: This should come with more practice, of course, but I'm looking to feel confident every time I take my stance.

    - Pre-routine: I don't have a regular pre-routine right now, so defining that will hopefully help my consistency!

    - Have fun: I tend to take myself a little too seriously, so always keeping in mind how lucky I am to have play opportunities and meet awesome people like you guys!

    Here's to accomplishing our goals!

    Best,

    Abby

More fun.  More golf.  More good times!  No matter what, there's always another day to play.  When there isn't, then there are no more worries.  So why worry?  Play!  The best improvements are made when you don't feel like it or are too tired or too something.  Get out and play and then play some more.  It's the greatest game in the world!  And games are supposed to be fun.  Enjoy!  #TeamTitleist 2016!

    Speedy's 2016 goals:

    - Increase flexibility

    - Improve my short game (within 100 yards) and putting.  I lost A LOT of strokes due to poor short games

    - Broke 80 4 times in 2015.  Let's make it 10.  Need a goal right?

    - Signed up for some lessons with a Pro and need to take that seriously and work on what he gives me

    - Do better in tournaments I'm invited to.

    - Win more money against Hotsauce :)

    - Put an 816 in my bag

    - Last but not least, I need to relax more and just have fun playing

Great thread, Abby! Here are my goals for 2016:

    - Play more

    - Practice more with a focus on the short game

    - Post lower scores

For 2015, I spent little to no time in the practice area other than warming up and it really showed in my performance throughout the year.  For 2016, my goal is to visit the practice tee and short game area on a regular basis to dial in my game and work to eliminate some of the inconsistency.

Great post Abby. I've never had a bad day playing golf, no matter what my score was that day. My goal is to fill my Titleist cart bag with a new set of Titleist AP1s or AP2s. I have the 915 D2 driver and the 915 3 wood to go with it. Other than that, I only have one Vokey wedge, 52-8. Hope all TT members have a great New Year!

    Play Well,

    Steve S.

    Toronto,

    Thanks Abby for the question.

    My resolution would be

    Break 90 as a average score (93 in 2015)

    Break 80!

Find better way to keep good condition.

    More golf, more fun!

My goals for 2016: - Join new course to help to improve my golf - MET (Joined Prestatyn Golf Club 1st January 2016) - Shoot consistent rounds in the 70's - Improve consistency with all clubs - Get to grips with distance control - Lower my average putts per round. - Win a Club Competition - Lower my handicap to be considered for the County team - Practice on my short game more - Finish with my head held high in Dubai (League To Dubai) April 2016. Return to the UK confident that I played the best golf that I could string together. Best of luck to all at achieving your goals for 2016

    Hey Abby,

My goal this year is to break 80 on a consistent basis and get that handicap to single digits even if its just 9. Beats 10-12 and any improvement is still improvement.

    Dwayne

  16. One major goal is to play more and when I do practice, to do so with intention and not necessarily with more frequency. If that means playing 9 holes instead of 18, then I plan to enjoy that too.

New clubs will be in the bag (full set of T-MB's with Recoil shafts), so I am looking forward to a new experience.

Hi Abby, I accomplished a lot last year - lost 25 pounds, won my golf league, lowered my handicap and gained a few yards off the tee. I really don't have any set goals (i.e. break 90, 80, 70, etc.), but focus on a process for improvement to be the best golfer I can be. Heading into 2016, I am going to discuss with my PGA pro my SWOT analysis and develop a plan for improvement. Strengthening my mental game and preparation by simulating "on the course" conditions when I practice has been part of the plan. It's not easy, but if I stick with a process for improvement, scores may drop. Best to all for 2016. -Tom

    2016 Golf Goals

    1. Play more golf

    2. Break 90 on a consistent basis with a focus on mid 80's

    3. Overcome my anxiety of playing a round with other golfers I don't know.  (I regularly play as a single)

    4. Play a few courses outside of my normal 2-3 regulars.

    5. Not to be obsessed with #2 and enjoy every swing, every step, every hole.

Like you Abby, I want to develop a pre-shot routine. I like playing fast and sometimes I get a little too fast and feel as though I make stupid mistakes. I always walk unless I'm required to ride and this helps slow me down. I also want to improve my short game, in particular, short pitches to an elevated green and controlling distance better out of bunkers. Last but not least, I would like to defend my club championship.

Great question Abby, 2015 was an off year for me, and although I had a great time every day I had a chance to tee it up, my scoring fell off from 2014. To rebound, my goals for 2016: 1) Play more - it wasn't until mid-June that I began playing regularly. Usually I've put in maybe 20 rounds by then. And as a result, it took weeks to feel comfortable over the ball (paralysis by analysis). 2) Practice more - like Chris, I'm just losing too many strokes inside 100 yards. Before last season, I was always confident that I could hit the green from 150 yards and in. Lack of practice led to too many bad swings, increasing the pressure on my short game. I need to get better. 3) Two putts or less. Let's just say I lost one of my major's by five shots, but I had 7 three putts. Enough said. 4) Make it to more TT get togethers. I missed out on Josh's event this year so that I could lose that major by three putting!!!!! But seriously, I've enjoyed the company of my fellow New Englander Team Titleist members, and I look forward to joining them on the course more this year. 5) Keep it all in perspective. Like Abby, I get a little too serious too. Even if I broke 70 (still my ultimate goal), I'm still going to have to go to work on Monday.

    Happy New Year TT!

    In 2016 I'm hoping to:

    • Play more golf with my father.
    • Develop a more consistent and reliable swing.
    • Get more involved in our club's youth league.

My goal is to (1) maintain a single digit index throughout the year. (2) to lower my index by 2 by summer. (3) to maintain the lower index for the rest of the year. This is a large chunk for me to even say, but with focus on good health and the motivation of how much fun is ahead along with #MyTitleist equipment, I'll have a better attitude to be on top of it!

Nice post Abby.  I've been thinking about this since early December.  Work won't allow me to play any golf until after the middle of April.  My first goal is to get a series of lessons from a pro that I got to know pretty well towards the end of my daughter's golf season.  After ingraining the lessons, I plan on having a Titleist fitting and have a set of clubs custom made once I have a good feel for where the pro is leading me with my swing.  I plan on joining a golf league (Carolina's Golf Association tourneys or something similar).  I would really like to see the improvement I saw this past year, lowering my handicap 4 strokes by the end of the year.  Lastly, I hope to play as many rounds with my regular group of golf buddies as possible, with a golf trip thrown in somewhere.

    Abby,

Great thread question!  My plans for 2016 are fairly simple (I don't like calling them goals since they aren't all measurable):

    • Continue to play as much as I did in 2015 - 2 to 3 times a week on average
    • Practice when I think I need it. I usually practice a fair amount early in the spring and then my sessions drop off as the season goes along.
    • Don't worry about my handicap. It is a true reflection of how I play now and over the course of the season it will go up and down more than once.
    • Enjoy my time on the course and the company of my playing partners.
    • Put an 816H1 in my bag this year.
    • Work on setting up a TT outing here in St Louis (I will be working with Jim H. to accomplish this).

    Like I said, fairly simple.

Heres to a great 2016 for all TT members.

  27. For starters like others have mentioned I'm hoping to maintain/improve my HCP.

im currently a 6.7 lowest I've ever been but if i can get down to around a 3-4 I'd be stoked.

id also like to play more golf at the next tier of quality courses, interested in Torrey Pines and Pebble Beach.
