  1. I think they compare favorably with Pro-V1(x)s. At first they felt pretty much the same to me. But gradually it seemed that the ‘soft-feel’ actually made a difference in how my half-wedges (60 yards or so) would stop quicker than I was used to.

They seem to be perhaps even a little tougher than Pro-V’s as well. I’ve hit trees and bounced off a cart path and in both cases the damage seemed a bit less than a Pro-V might have suffered.

I’m impressed – if they end up being priced similarly to the two Pro-V models I will probably switch to them.

Loved the AVX on the putting surface...like they hugged the grass and rolled so very smoothly. I got more distance (6-7yds) off the tee and about the same with my irons. To me it was a toss up with the ProV1 for chipping and pitching from 40yds and in. Love the ball. Had my second hole-in-one in 20 years with one and the previous ball was the old HP2. 17 years playing ProV1s and no ace. Third round with an AVX and bingo! And almost another one 4 days later. Coincidence? I don't think so. Please Titleist - release this ball nationwide. I want to order my annual supply of No. 1s but will delay the special order if the AVX is coming to market in the near future. Don't keep us in suspense!

I was lucky to find one all the way in Kansas City.

Played with it for several holes with it. Loved the feel and the way it held up in the wind for me.

Would try it out again if they were made available locally.
  4. How does this new ball compare to the Sirxon Q Star Tour?

    Overall...Distance and consistency.
Kansas City was not part of the test market. The manager at our local Edwin Watts store got a sleeve for me as he felt I would really like them based on my swing characteristics. I was incredibly surprised with the distance and forgiveness?! I tend to hit a high ball and right from the start I noticed the AVX lowered my ball flight and increased my yardage. By as much as 15-20 yards?! No exaggeration! I was shocked and my playing partners all notice my ball flight was lower and my distance longer. AVX didn't give me the consistent short iron spin I like on approaches to the green, but over all I was astonished and very pleased with the ball.
  6. I have gone through about 3 dozen of these golf balls. I usually play Chrome Soft or Bridgestone 330RX's. these are a superior ball and I am so glad Titleist decided to make them available every where. I live by Seattle and could not buy them when at home. They are noticeably longer with a great feel and stopping power on the greens. The Optic yellow I am extremely excited for as I cannot use or see white golf balls due to an eye condition. All I can say is thank you. Just a great ball. I just hope they do not do like they typically do and price point these to where they are not feasible. Stay the same a a Chrome Soft or a Tour B 330RX and you will take all that business.
  7. I've been playing the AVX since last October and love it. It has great soft feel and has long distance. I've been able to back the ball up on the green with no problems. It has really good touch and feel when putting. The yellow ball is a plus for playing in the winter. I've used Pro V1X and NXT Tour S in the past but AVX is the ball now.

This link to the AVX announcement had me voting, again. This time, I keep finding myself hitting over greens with mid-range irons. I had a rental set that had a 5 Iron and a 21 H. I haven't used a 5I in 3 years or so. With the AVX the rental 5I was fully a clunb longer than the 6I. The ball only had to be as good as a Pro-Vi and be in amber. I really love the mid-iron responses - or will when I dial in the distances. Now just to go get a new 5I for my set.

Shot 73 with the AVX this week. My last 8-10 rounds have been between 78 and 82. Ball is definitely longer with the irons...about half a club.
  10. Bought them last fall on golf trip to Florida. Really just got a dozen because they were unavailable. Hadn’t played until today.

Really a different ball. I have played Pro V1 for about 10 years. Great with wind, launches noticeably lower and iron half club longer. Great feel. If you struggle with too much spin, great choice.

Really impressed with the ball, but I spin it a lot normally. If you play in wind, great ball, it you play really firm greens and need launch and spin, stick with tried and true

I was “Stunned” after my first 18 with the new AVX! I am 60 years old with artificial knees and a screw and plate in my right big toe. Being a right handed player, rotation and weight transfer is now challenging. Keith Walsh the manager at Worldwide Golf Shops in Overland Park, Ks. Called me one day and said, come by the shop, I have a sleeve of the new Titleist AVX for you. I think you will really like this ball for your game?! Keith has been fitting me and taking care of my Golf need for the last 6 years. His expertise has helped me improve my game while adjusting to new body parts and fighting Father Time! Needless to say...the ball just amazed me! I tend to have a high ball flight all through the bag. The lower flight and distance has been a perfect match for my game. I have gained 10-15 yards with the driver and 5-8 yards with my irons! As well as added yardage with the 3 wood and hybrids. In all the years I have played golf, my bag is perfectly fit as far as clubs, gapping and now ball. I am playing with more confidence and enjoying more scoring opportunities. I also love the way the ball comes off my putter. I would guesstimate the AVX has cut my score 3-4 strokes a round. First time I played the ball my foursome finally asked me what ball I was playing because I was consistently in the fairway and past them off the tee. I handed a few out for my partners to try and I’m pretty sure after the round AVX sales should have increased!? LOL! The AVX fits my game perfectly and I couldn’t be more excited to continue working to lower my handicap! I have already brought it down 2 strokes while playing the AVX! Who says old dogs can’t learn new tricks!

Played with the AVX and it felt good especially short chip shots and putting. Kind of confused on where it fits into the line up. It commands a premium price similar to either of the V1's but I don't think my game is that good where I can "honestly" say that I'm getting a little lower launch compared to the V1's. All in all, a good ball but I think it just confuses things.
  15. I have played the ball for 5 or 6 weeks. The driver distance is remarkable. You have to be a little careful with the running chip shots because it wants to leap off the face of the iron and you can forget about hitting the checking wedge shots around the greens (it will not spin enough), but the driver distance is well worth the trade off. I will play the ball all Summer .

I’m a senior whose swing speed and distance have decreased with age and loss of flexibility. I’ve been a lifelong Pro V1 player, but over the past few years I’ve been lured by some of the lower-compression urethane-covered offerings by competitive brands. In the AVX blind trial I was consistently 10 yards longer off the tee with the AVX vs Pro V1. The lower ball flight took some getting used to, but for 10 yards I’ll take a lower ball flight.

Don't know if my test ball was this particular ball, but loved the soft feel [the way it came off my driver, irons, and putter] confirm it's the same ball, and I'll be purchasing same.....

Found an AVX in a bucket of range balls here in the Northeast late last year. Do not know how it got there as it was not being tested in this area. "AVX"...Thought it was someone's initials. Believed it to be a knock off Titleist because of the dimple pattern. Decided to hit it with my driver..."Holy ---- " What the ----was that". Unbelievable, crushed it. Sad part of the story, only had one to test. First and lasting impression "This is one hot ball". Disappointed I did not have more to hit.
  19. Most amazing ball I have played. Distance, Feel, Spin! No match for the ProV at least for my swing.

I've been playing the AVX optic yellow ball in AZ since it was introduced last year, replacing the cally Chromesoft Truvis yellow ball. I believe the AVX is longer and slightly softer than either the Chromesoft or ProV1x. My only complaint is the price point equal to the ProV1. That said, AVX and ProV1 are about $3 more than the Chromesoft -- not enough difference to make me give up the AVX. Had my second lifetime ace last month. First with ProV1 in 2002 second with AVX.
